Grand Ave Closing

The City of Lansing Department of Planning and Neighborhood Development announces that on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, Grand Avenue will be fully closed to all traffic between St. Joseph Street and Lenawee Street and between Washtenaw Street and Ottawa Street to facilitate construction on the City of Lansing’s Combined Sewer Overflow Control Project. This construction is expected to last until November.

Access to businesses adjacent the construction zone will be maintained. Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes whenever possible. For additional information and construction updates, visit: http://www.lansingcso.com

For those students and employees who normally access LCC buildings and LCC parking (including the Gannon Parking Ramp) via Grand Avenue, please use an alternate route.

Alternate Route #1 (if coming from the west or southwest): take Walnut Street north to Ionia Street, turn right and proceed to Grand Avenue, turn left onto Grand Avenue (this will allow access to LCC buildings and parking north of Ionia Street).

Alternate Route #2 (if coming from the east or southeast): Take Larch Street north to Shiawassee Street, turn left onto Shiawassee Street and proceed to Grand Avenue, turn right onto Grand Avenue (this will allow access to LCC buildings and parking north of Grand Avenue). If using this route and access to LCC buildings and parking between Ionia Street and Shiawassee Street is needed (Lots N and S and AOF), do not turn on Grand Avenue; instead, proceed to Washington Avenue and turn left, go to Ionia Street and turn left proceeding to Grand Avenue, turn left onto Grand Avenue.

If you park in the City of Lansing’s North Grand Avenue / Expansion Parking Ramp, Allegan Street (the intersection of Washington Square and Allegan Street will operate as a FOUR WAY STOP) and Ottawa Street will be converted to two-way traffic between Grand Avenue and Washington Square in order to facilitate access to the parking ramp.
