*Notepad++ – Notepad++ is a free (as in “free speech” and also as in “free beer”) source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages. It runs in the MS Windows environment.
Crimson Editor – is a professional source code editor for Windows and can serve as a good replacement for Notepad, it also offers many powerful features for programming languages and HTML coding. Some features include: syntax highlighting. Other features include undo/redo, user tools, macros, spell checker and more.
EditPad Lite – A free editor that line numbers, tabbed interface for multiple files, small Notepad replacement, reopen menu, multiple undo and many more. Win9x/Me/NT/2K/XP

Multiprotocol IM Clients
Multi-protocol client software works with most popular instant messaging accounts which allows the user to have on software to access many IM accounts. Using multi-protocol software, you can IM with friends no matter which IM service they use.
Miranda-IM – a free multi-protocol Instant Messaging client. (Win9x/Me/NT/2K/XP)
Pidgin – another free multi-protocol Instant Messaging client (Win9x/Me/NT/2K/XP and Linux)
AdiumX – free for Mac OS and supports the main 6 IM protocols

IM Clients
The following clients allow you to access only one instant Messaaging network. For example, if you use Yahoo! IM, you will only chat with others using the Yahoo! IM and the same with the rest of the choices below.
